报告内容简介:

The control of source-to-sink allocation of photo-assimilates, mainly as sucrose, play key roles in determining energy and nutrient distribution in plants for growth and adaptation to environment. We aim to understand and optimize this ‘budget’ allocation for improving yield and resilience through (i) exploring how sugar metabolism, transport and signalling regulate plant development and (ii) dissecting the molecular network underpinning resource partitioning in plants during evolution and domestication. This talk will highlight recent progresses in illuminating the nature of the cellular bottlenecks controlling the long march of sugar translocation from leaf loading in the source to unloading in the sink and then to the final destination to the organelles for storage and use such as vacuoles and plastids, focusing on the molecular coupling between membrane transporters and metabolic enzymes from evolutionary and developmental perspectives.
